Jill E. Uhl currently works as AzTE's Resident Patent Counsel. She is currently of counsel to Nixon Peabody, LLP, where she advises national and international pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers and distributors, biotechnology companies and universities on all aspects of life sciences patent prosecution, business transactions, FDA regulatory matters and litigation. Ms. Uhl has extensive experience drafting and negotiating agreements related to the complete life cycle of pharmaceutical products including, CRADAs, Material Transfer Agreements, Co-development and Co-promotion agreements, Manufacturing and Supply agreements and all forms of Licensing agreements. Her work also includes conducting due diligence associated with business transactions and on behalf of institutional investors in the life sciences industry.


Ms. Uhl also works with clients in addressing issues related to the Hatch-Waxman Act, Prescription Drug Marketing Act, Orphan Drug Act, and related statutes, and policy issues relating to federal and state regulation of the life sciences industry. In addition, Ms. Uhl counsels clients in the development of strategic plans for maximizing patent and other protections for their products including analyzing Orphan Drug qualification, obtaining Patent Term Extension and Special Protection Certificates and preparing and monitoring Orange Book Listings.

Before joining Nixon Peabody LLP, Ms. Uhl spent a number of years practicing in the life sciences groups of national law firms as well as in the position of U.S. patent counsel for Serono International, an international biopharmaceutical company. Ms. Uhl graduated from University of Kentucky with a B.S., Phi Beta Kappa, and holds a J.D. from University of Cincinnati.
