Phil Dowd brings to AzTE more than ten years of university and startup-based research experience in the field of semiconductor optoelectronics.
Prior to joining AzTE, Phil was employed by the University of New Mexico’s Center for High Technology Materials, where he worked on novel materials and devices for mid- and long-wavelength infrared optoelectronic devices. Previously, he worked at Arizona State University and, thereafter, Lytek Corporation, an ASU spin-out company, developing, tele- and data -communications optoelectronic devices. While at Lytek, he held the position of vice president for research and development. He also held the post of assistant professor in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, in Singapore, developing courseware in materials science and photonics.
Phil holds a B.Sc. in physics with physical electronics and a Ph.D. on the topic of semiconductor lasers for data communications applications, both awarded by the University of Bath in England. He is also an inventor who holds three issued U.S. patents.
