In fiscal year 2011, ASU faculty members were issued 18 patents and launched ten startups.

Faculty also submitted 170 invention disclosures to AzTE. These inventions will provide the technology inventory for the next generation of new deals or startups.

According to FY 2010 U.S. Licensing Survey performed by the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), AzTE ranks highly in terms of both inputs (inventions disclosed to AzTE by ASU researchers) and outputs (licensing deals, option agreements and startups).

Among U.S. institutions with at least $200 million in research expenditures, AzTE ranked in the top ten in all these areas, per $10 million in research.  AzTE was also above average in issued patents.  (See figure at left.)
